From the AuthorToday's Comic!About Today's Comic: I'm going to be perfectly honest about today's comic. The first panel? Garbage. No, not even fishing for "oh, but the hamburger is okay!" here. THat's Allison Rose, who you may recognize as looking a wee bit different on her bio page. That's because when I drew her here, it counted as my first female figure drawn in about...5 years. Needless to say, I didn't exactly do a great job. But, I like the facial expressions in the last panel enough to not burn the page this is drawn on. About Today's Writing: Friday we defended coarse language, and today I will defend my use of the phrase "sweet cycloptic Jesus" a remark that bears resemblance to others that Godfree and Steven both say throughout the story. My intention here is never to offend any particular group of people, and if you find offense to this, I'd like to make one thing perfectly clear: I am not seriously implying that Jesus was a cyclops, not that he was a glucose based edible object. This is the sort of thing people I know (myself included) exclaim when being kicked in the ribs or upon being shocked. Like coarse language, the requirement for this sort of ejaculation is surprise or intense emotion. Also, because we think it's funny. Don't worry, plenty of deities find their way into interjections. You will also notice the introduction of speech bubble-pointing things. They get a lot smoother as the strips progress, but generally when a character speaks and he's int he panel, it has a pointer. If he's thinking, there's no pointer, and if somebody off panel is talking, there's no pointer. I'm still looking for pointers in making this look better. Nyuk nyuk nyuk. Still on Spring Break here. Working fine. Comics up as usual, but if I'm not spectacularly great with my notes, I'm sure it'll go unnoticed. |
